Here are some of our favorite age-appropriate sex education and resource links for teenagers and young adults.   The internet can be a scary place for parents and young folks.  These are smart websites with integrity that offer factual and age-appropriate sex information for young people.  No scary pop ups here…

If you’re a parent or a curious kid looking for advice, there are definitely places to learn.  If you can keep lines of communication open in the family, then everyone benefits.  Often kids and teens are looking for reliable information about sex and don’t know where to turn.  Parents and trusted adults have an opportunity to offer safe, non-judgmental resources.  And avoiding the topic altogether just won’t help.   Of course kids and their parents discussing sex and relationships can be awkward and challenging.  The resources below can offer guidance and info that can be digested on one’s own, too.

You can always stop by Self Serve, call or email us if you are looking for a book, support group or resource for anything sexuality related.  We know it’s tough growing up (and it’s tough communicating in those teenage years).  While Self Serve is a space intended for adults, parents and guardians are welcome to bring in youth under 18 with permission and oversight.

The Coalition for Positive Sexuality

The Coalition for Positive Sexuality (CPS) is a grassroots direct-action volunteer group formed in Chicago in the spring of 1992 by high school students and members of the community. Their purpose is twofold: first, to give teens the information they need to take care of themselves and in so doing affirm their decisions about sex, sexuality, and reproductive control; second, to facilitate dialogue in and out of the public schools on condom availability and sex education.
