Respect ABQ Women Conversation @ Self Serve

Join Self Serve, Young Women United and Respect ABQ Women for a discussion on the Nov. 19th ballot measure that is designed to limit access to safe and legal abortion in Albuquerque. Find out what you can do to help defeat it!respect-abq-women

Self Serve will host a gathering on Oct. 9th at 7:30 pm to learn more about the upcoming ballot measure designed to limit access to safe and legal abortion in Albuquerque. It is vital that we mobilize as a community to make sure that the right to make intimate life decisions is kept within the hands of our women and families.

If you want to know more about the ballot measure that would mandate government interference in a woman’s personal decisions about abortion and where we go from here, or if you just heard about the ballot measure that will affect our community, you are welcome to come. Denicia Cadena from Young Women United will be here to share more information with us about the Respect ABQ Women campaign, what is being done, and how you can get involved and help spread the word to make sure that we defeat the ballot measure on November 19th. We also want to hear your ideas on how to get the word out and support this extremely important issue in our community!

Snacks and beverages will be provided. Please invite and bring your friends! This event is FREE!

You can RSVP for this event by calling Self Serve at 505 265 5815, or you can sign up online at our website.

Be sure to “Like” RespectABQWomen on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/respectABQwomen) and sign up for the mailing list at http://www.respectabqwomen.org/ to get updates”

If you can’t come to the meeting on Oct. 9th, here are other ways you can get involved.

VOTE NO on Nov. 19th! Share with your friends and family why you are voting NO on Nov. 19th.

Info on phonebanking

The Respect ABQ Women campaign phone banks three nights a week. Two of those nights change slightly, but they always have a phone bank on Tuesday. The Tuesday phone banks have both childcare and dinner.

Never phone banked before? No problem. We give every new volunteer training and answer any questions that you may have.

Phones will be provided to every volunteer.

Canvassing

Help spread the word about the ballot measure by canvassing with Strong Families NM ( Strong Families, YWU, RCRC) every Saturday till the election! They will train people and be walking with them. Almost everyone is new to this and no one should be intimidated.

Why should you help the Respect ABQ Women campaign?

This is what one volunteer, Barbara Bacon, had to say:

“I am doing it for all the women who came before me who fought for my rights and the women behind me. I feel that I am standing up for the women in NM and of the southwest who have no place to go.”
