Consent is mandatory.
Consent is sexy.
Consent is deep.
While these statements hold true, consent within the queer community can be different. There are road blocks, trauma, and fears that are unique to the LGBTQIA+ culture.
We are lifelong learners, continually evolving. Bringing questions to the forefront is an important part of this journey. How does consent differ in the queer community? What happens to the responsibility of initiating consent when traditional gender roles are disregarded or not anticipated? Are there alternative ways to express consent?
Join sex educator, Madeline Gregg, for a deep dive into queer culture. We will discuss examples and types of consent while also providing practical tools to help you feel more confident when it comes to initiating. Say goodbye to the anxiety of that long-standing question- who makes the first move?
Accessibility info: This class is held in-person. Masks are required at Self Serve, please follow all COVID/contagion protocols to help keep each other and our community safe. Our entrance & bathroom are accessible. Please refrain from wearing heavily scented products.
Madeline Gregg is a certified sex educator under the American Board of Sexology and owner of Vampire Shot Glass. Madeline started a podcast in 2020 speaking on what some listeners might see as taboo. Through the success of her podcast she quickly realized there was a gap in education with sexual health. From there, she got certified and grew her TikTok following to over 1 million. She specializes in the queer community with a focus in connection, communication, and anatomy.
Madeline is also an intimacy expert and has a thriving practice. She gives clients tools to set boundaries, increase comfort, and build trust in order to have a healthy relationship with sex, partners, and intimacy. She takes a science approach to her practice- always relating peer reviewed studies, anatomy, and the inner workings of relationship dynamics to help clients achieve their goals. She is an educator, an advocate, public speaker, and active member of her local queer community.
She has no problem tackling taboo subjects or addressing difficult topics, and enjoys helping people feel more at ease with their own bodies, and what they want out of the relationships they are in. Madeline is kink-educated, trauma informed, and was one of the first sex educators on TikTok to advocate for gender inclusive language when speaking about sexual health.
