Masturbation Month – reasons to celebrate!

May is masturbation month, and naturally it’s a topic that is near and dear to our hearts.

Masturbation is something we could probably all benefit from, but many people don’t do it because they think it’s wrong or shameful, especially female masturbation.

Even today people can lose their jobs over publicly endorsing the benefits of masturbation. That’s the whole story behind masturbation month.

It all started in San Francisco, of course, when Good Vibrations wanted to support the cause and healthy results of masturbation.  In 1994 Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders rightly suggested we aught to discuss the safe and universal sexual practice of self-pleasure with young people.  For that radical statement, she lost her job.  We love that in a 2005 interview, Elders told CNN, she would do it all over again, too.

Organizations around the world recognize May as the month to celebrate self love and pleasure. For instance, in 2008 Self Serve hosted Masturbate-a-thon in New Mexico, which you can read more about here!

Whether you are a regular masturbator or need some encouragement about how and why to do it – we’ve got you covered. Self Serve will host a FREE class on Wednesday, May 29th at 7:30 pm  called “Masturbation is for Everyone”.

Learn to be your best lover! Taking ownership of your own pleasure is an empowering experience and it’s good for your sex life. Single and committed folks alike can benefit from self love. Molly will share hand job techniques for ladies and gents and prove that you can be a better lover …to yourself. Keep in mind the ‘handy’ techniques can of course be used on others, as well!

You can sign up for the class here!

And just in case you need more encouragement, we listed some popular and humorous reasons to masturbate. Enjoy! And let us know in the comments if you have any additions to the list.
